One of the last songs I submitted for FAWM is actually the first song I ever attempted to write. I hadn't ever really finished it, so I dusted it off and fleshed it out with guitar, piano, and vocals.
lyrics
Meet me in the grove
That's what she said
Meet me in the place
Where we found red
Close your eyes and run
I'm right ahead
Dream that I am still
Where you once led
Then take me back to last October
I'll let you slowly win me over
The day keeps fading overhead
Let the leaves come down and paint us
Red
It still feels like I'm singing
In that old hotel
I'll stay a little longer
In dreams I never tell
I feel just like your sculpture
Your hands tracing my face
But if I lay here longer
Some part of me will break
So take me back to last November
Words of scarlet, voice of amber
Count the hairs upon your head
And sing with you until the sky turns
Red
We danced like no one noticed
The smiles and the stares
You told me you were flying
But not that you were scared
The cold became a bitter friend
Grasping us too tight
The flames that danced before our eyes
Gave praise to the night
So take me back to last December
Lying by those burning embers
I take in all the things you said
And swear to you, you made the fire
Red
We gather here amongst the trees
To place a rock and plant a seed
You'll be the wind, I'll be the sea
And shout your name til my voice bleeds
Red
