It's been years since I uploaded anything, but it's also been Winter, which means free time and drop of melancholy. I have always loved Rachmaninoff, and this piece in particular (one of my first inspirations to want to learn piano), so I decided to actually learn how to play it.
This recording still has notable mistakes I hope to work out over time, but it's passable enough to feel worth uploading as a marker of my progress in learning this over the last month or two. It's also impossible to not record my stool squeaking as I lean left and right to reach all those notes.
I'll note that learning this has been fun not just because it's a great piece, but because just figuring out where to place my hands took some puzzling out: for the first two minutes, they almost constantly overlap each other. During the falling chord stream early on, my hands have to zig zag over and under each other like I'm performing a secret handshake, and it amuses the crap out of me every time.
